Two casting calls for theatre projects (Devon, UK)

Sadly, shows arent paid, but as you will see there are other perks. We are an award winning, non-profit community theatre company specialising in shows with a historical theme, based in South West England. If you are interested in either show, you can message me here on Livejournal (I am the secretary for the group), or visit our website and facebook links. People need to be locally based to the shows, so think the South of Devon.
If you will be on holiday in the area though, and would like to join in, as these are fast-turn-around shows, you are still totally welcome to get involved!

Feel free to share the information, but please include ALL the information if you do. :)

The Lost Templar Fleet

Show:  The Lost Templar Fleet
Group: The South Devon Players (website    Facebook group)

Performance afternoon of August 4th 2011 in Brixham. May be resurrected for future events if it goes well.

Performers required
We are looking for RELIABLE male and female performers to play various medieval characters in this action-packed show.   Combat training (for those playing combatant characters) is provided, with photographs, and references upon request, for future drama/ theatre studies all provided upon succesful completion of the project. There will be a couple of evening rehearsals in Brixham prior to the show.

Ability to do improvised acting while mingling in crowds is vital. If you do not have experience, you will be asked to attend an audition. Cast will need to be able to interact with one another and possible members of the public as well - if a member of the public asks you a question, you need to be able to respond IN CHARACTER and adapt to changes to situations.

About the show...
A mixture of improvised street theatre, and historical re-enactment.   When the Templars were disbanded by papal order in 1307, their massive fleet disappeared from its base at La Rochelle. This show/ re-enactment tells a possible story of why the fleet disappeared. Based on the historical accounts and myths that have grown up around the fleet and the disbanding of the Templars. This is one of the few deviations from our normal "local history" focus, upon request, for a nautical-themed fun day during the school summer holidays.
